The 2006 Shiraz (65%) – Cabernet (35%) “WOMS” is an old vine cuvee aged for 18 months in new and one-year-old French oak. It coats the glass and has an enticing fragrance of smoke, scorched earth, tar, and black currants. However, on the palate, it is tightly wound and tannic. Extended cellaring may smooth out this muscular blend but that is a gamble.

| Winery Notes: 64% Shiraz, 36% Cabernet Sauvignon. Shiraz fruit sourced from the Kaesler vineyard planted in 1961 and the Cabernet vineyard planted in 1985. Matured in French oak for 18 months. Black cherries, vanilla, some saddle leather characters on the palate. This is the third release of the WOMS - Weapon of Mass Seduction. The first vintage we made was in 2002, 2004 and now the release of the 2006 - and judging by Reid's advice to staff to grab some of this wine before it all goes, probably one of his best. Cellar 10 years. |
