Bright, medium red. Alluring, spicy raspberry and cherry aromas are complicated by white pepper and fresh floral qualities; smells like a Chambolle. Nervy red fruit flavors are impressively precise and gain sweetness and depth with air. Offers true pinot finesse and texture, with no rough edges or excess weight. A juicy, arrestingly pure wine, with excellent finishing clarity, bite and lingering sweetness. This is an excellent value in pinot noir, from anywhere. 90 points

| Winery Notes: This sublime Pinot Noir is aptly called Permutations, because it is a permutation of one thing: Greatness. Great Pinot Noir fruit from great vineyards all around Victoria, Australia and great winemaking by superstar, wunderkind winemaker Bill Downie, who says this is the best Pinot he's ever made. Packaged with 24 different labels featuring fantastically clever illustrations from the great British illustrator Paul Davis. And, the greatest permutation of all: Great value. |
