The 2005 “Footprint” Shiraz is a barrel selection of the best estate Shiraz produced only in top vintages. It was aged for 24 months in a mix of new and used French and American oak. Opaque purple-colored, it offers an enticing bouquet of smoke, bacon, Asian spices, blueberry, and blackberry liqueur. Made in a slightly lean, elegant, structured style, this shiraz has a big core of fruit, excellent balance, and a long, pure finish. It demands 8-10 years of cellaring and will drink well through 2030.

Opaque ruby. Deep aromas of dark berries, cherry-vanilla and mocha, plus a bright jolt of cracked pepper. Suave red and dark berry flavors show impressive, palate-staining intensity without excess weight. A silky-sweet wine with impressive finishing vivacity and cut. This is strikingly elegant and balanced, not to mention concentrated and built to reward cellaring. 92 points
