The estate’s 2007 Ateo is Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot now that the Sangiovese has been eliminated from the blend. Although the wine is made from international varieties here those grapes speak with a distinctly Tuscan accent. Plummy dark fruit leads to sweet herbs, spices, earthiness and minerals as this rich, deep wine opens up in the glass. This is one of the few 2007s that will actually benefit from another year or so in bottle. It is gorgeous stuff! Anticipated maturity: 2011-2019.

| This multifaceted wine is suited to day to day drinking and is easily matched with all foods. Its excellent price to quality ratio places it immediately at the head of its category. Grape varietal: mostly Sangiovese. Fermentation and refinement: in stainless steel and glass concrete vats with temperature controlled through cooling plates and jackets. Ageing: Slavonian oak barrels and barriques. Colour: ruby red. Organoleptic characteristic: fruity, lightly herbal and enriched by hints of spices. This wine is ready for drinking, full bodied, quite soft and balanced. Service: serve at 18°C (64,4° F). Food pairings: this is a very versatile wine and can match all courses of a meal, especially meat-based courses, salami and cheese. |
